Helping Hand Coalition Report

Hanah   Age: 75   City: Afula

Hannah was born in Germany. Her mother was killed in Auschwitz and her father was taken by the Nazi’s and killed when she was too young to remember. She only found out what happened to her mother when she found her mother’s name written in the Yad VaShem records a few years ago. During the war, Hannah lived in Berlin and Hamburg until being released by the British but she was very young and doesn’t remember so much.

Hannah came to Israel in 1946. She lives with her husband in an apartment owned by the municipality. Her husband is not a Holocaust survivor. He is from Morocco. She has five children who all live relatively close by. Hannah has recently lost a lot of weight (19 kg), this has caused her to have various health problems. She and her husband need to pay a debt of 100,000 shekels to the municipality (for water, gas, etc.). The reason for this great debt is the fact that they had to pay for their children’s education and buy their daily food. Hannah and her husband receive 1,500 shekels each per month for their pension however she does not receive funds from Germany because she still hates the Germans.

Urgent Need: Hannah and her husband are in desperate need of money to pay their 100,000 shekel debt to the municipality which has accumulated during most of her life.
