Ephraim Makaleinik     Age: 68,     City: Tel Aviv

War History: Ephraim was born in Moscow, Russia. At the age of 2, he was sent to a Ghetto in Ukraine with his family. After the war, he returned to Moscow with his family.

Ephraim came to Israel in 1973. He lives with a roommate who is his age. He has been divorced for 25 years. He has one daughter, who is 40 years old and lives in Jerusalem. They are not very close. “She has no time for him”, he claims. Ephraim received a partial pension (for 3 years alone) because he had not worked that many years before retiring. He received 5,000 Euro from the funds sent by Germany for the Holocaust survivors, 4 years ago.

Personal Comments: Ephraim doesn’t need very much. His status is not bad; it is considerably quite good. All he asks for is glasses.
